چکیده

Twoand 3-year-old beef bulls were exposed to 25 or 40 beef cows on pasture during a 90-day breeding period. Reproductive performance of bulls by age of bull and size of cow group was evaluated in terms of percentage calf crop. Results indicated that reproductive performance of 2-year-old bulls was higher, but not significantly different (P>.05), than that of 3-year-old bulls. The percentage calf crop from 40 vs 25 cows per bull was not different (P>.05). Differences among bulls (within age of bull and size of cow group) for percentage calf crop were significant for each of four intervals during the calving periods. (

Breeding performance of bulls assigned either to 40 cows per bull or 80 cows per two bulls during the breeding period.

The reproductive performance of Angus (A), Polled Hereford (PH) and Santa Gertrudis (SG) bulls was compared when exposed to 40 cows/bull vs 80 cows/two bulls during a 90- to 95-d breeding period on pasture. Cows were A, PH and SG straightbreds and crossbreds of these breeds. Each year, cows were allotted at random within breed composition and age of dam to breeding groups. A replicate consisted...

“Short Paper” The Effect of Short Term and Long Term Feeding of Barley Seed with or Without eCG on Reproductive Performance of Goat During Breeding and Out Breeding Seasons

Nutritional and hormonal programs are one of the important ways of improving goat reproductive performance. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effect of using barley seed and eCG at the same time on the reproductive performance of goat in nomadic breeding conditions. The number of 60 goats of two to three-year-old in the breeding season and 60 goats of three to four-y...

Fertility of yearling beef bulls during mating.

Crossbred (Bos taurus) yearling beef bulls were assessed for breeding soundness and physical traits prior to multi-sire natural mating at pasture. Bulls (n = 60) were assigned to six groups of nine or 10 bulls and two bull-groups were rotated on 14-day intervals during a 63-day mating season in each breeding herd (n = 3) of 191-196 cows. The remaining bulls (n = 14) were maintained under simila...

Calm temperament improves reproductive performance of beef cows.

Profitability of a beef operation is determined by the proportion of cows attaining pregnancy early in the breeding season and those that are pregnant at the end of breeding season. Many factors, including temperament, contribute to those reproductive parameters. The objective of this study was to evaluate effects of temperament on reproductive performance of beef cows. In Experiment 1, Angus a...

Yearling bulls shorten the duration of postpartum anestrus in beef cows to the same extent as do mature bulls.

The objective of this study was to determine whether yearling bulls, when pastured with cows, reduced the duration of postpartum anestrus to the same extent as did mature bulls. This experiment was conducted over a 3-yr period. Cows were stratified by parity group to achieve 37% 2-yr-old and 63% mature (> 2-yr-old) cows within each treatment group (approximately 50 cows per treatment per year)....
